Have you ever been to Italy? Neither have I. Will go one day, but in the meantime, I’ll have to rely on making pasta dish after pasta dish + pairing it with a cocktail to suffice.

I first ran across this cocktail while searching how to make a mojito; I will admit, I usually leave the drink-making thing to the pros when I’m out to dinner but after quarantine, I kinda grew a love for making a cocktail that would pair with a meal and that’s when I came across The Aperol Spritz; The cocktail that will make you feel like you’re chillin’ on the Amalfi Coast… and I was SOLD. I even made Devon stop on his way home to snag the essentials.
Before we start, you’ll need some cute af glasses because just like with everything else, if you have cute glasses, your drink will taste 100x’s better… According to me. So now that that’s outta the way, here are a few that I snagged earlier today when I realized my selection was slacking:
And here are a few more things that I grabbed while I was shopping for this new endeavor lolol pretty excited for the bar cabinet tbh
Now for the part you’ve been waiting for, the Aperol Spritz Recipe:
WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
1) Large Wine Glass
I love + use THIS ONE constantly. It gives you just enough beverage so that you’re not sucking it down in three sips or overly bored with it by the end. It’s just the right size for this kinda thing.
2) Aperol Spritz
This ingredient is a must in order to make this cocktail correctly. This mixer is described as having orange and herbal notes but I find it very similar to Grapefruit. So yummy.
3) Prosecco
Prosecco is a sparkling Italian wine that’s delicious + perfect for those hot summer evenings. Just be sure to try and find one that has Brut on the label as this will help ensure that your cocktail is delightful and not overly sweet or syrup-y
4) Tonic Water
Or unflavored sparkling water will do. You’re using this to add a touch of balance to the Prosecco and Aperol while enhancing the sparkling water vibe.
HOW TO MIX:
This is the fun part because it really depends on the glass and your taste preference but this is the ratio/recipe I go by:
+ Add a cup full of Ice to your wine/cocktail glass
+ Pour 1/3 Aperol Spritz Mix into the glass
+ Then add 1/3 Prosecco (even pour to the Aperol)
+ Top it off with a Splash of Tonic Water
+ Garnish with an orange slice
Then head out back onto your porch or deck and enjoy this amazingly summery cocktail that will have you feeling like you’re sailing on a boat in Capri. Honestly a daydream.
