The Beauty Archive: Foundation Guide

A couple of weeks ago, I mentioned on IG stories (Follow me HERE) that I just received the Luminous Silk Foundation and was pretty excited to give it a try but after posting the series of stories, a lot of you mentioned a bunch of other foundations that I should try as well. Although I haven’t had a chance to try the majority of them, I wanted to share the recommendations that I received in case anyone out there is currently looking for a new foundation to try.

Of course, I want to touch on the Luminous Silk first, because this is the one I’ve been using for almost 3 weeks now; So far, I absolutely LOVE IT. If you’re new to The Archive, then it’s important to mention that I have oily skin so finding a product that doesn’t accentuate the oiliness or settle in fine lines is absolutely a must and thankfully, it usually doesn’t take very long after application to figure out if a foundation is something I’ll be able to use longterm or need to take back immediately.

As far as the Luminous Silk goes, it’s definitely the kind of foundation that I’ve been hunting for because the coverage is moderate and amazing! This foundation is actually considered sheer to moderate coverage but still very buildable, and covers the redness around my nose and cheeks. If you have a problem area, you may still need to whip out the concealer but for the day-to-day wear, on a scale of 1-10, one being tinted moisturizer and 10 being full coverage, I would say it’s about a 6 but can be built up to about a 7 if you apply a second layer.

I love the texture, which feels more on the thin side and definitely nothing like the popular Double Wear so if you’re used to that texture and coverage, then this foundation probably isn’t for you.

I usually only use one to one and a half pumps on (THIS) damp beauty blender but I did just purchase a foundation brush (THIS ONE) because I’m going to go back to using my BB sponge for blending concealer under my eyes and using a brush for everything else. This is really a personal preference that I switch up often so use whichever method you’re most comfortable with as I don’t really feel that a brush would necessarily apply the Luminous Silk better, just something I want to try in order to save more product over time.

As far as wear-time goes, I boldly tested this foundation before a full day of travel and to say that it held up all day would be an understatement. This foundation didn’t separate or settle, and although I usually have to touch up with powder on a long day, I didn’t feel that I had to powder any sooner or later than with any of the other foundations that are staples in my routine. I use THIS powder every single day and it’s the absolute best I’ve found! Totally recommend if you’re oily and want to prolong your makeup staying power.
